The two main destinations for Chilean dried plums in the first quarter of 2023 were Germany, leading in foreign exchange earnings (FOB dollars), and the Chinese market, leading in export volumes.
Chileprunes reported that China reached a total of 2,164 tons, equivalent to $6.8 million. On the other hand, the German market imported a total of 1,983 tons of dehydrated Chilean plums, amounting to $9.1 million.
Chile exported a total of 13,163 tons to over 70 countries between January and April of this year, generating returns of $52.8 million.
The Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) indicated that Chilean dried plums are one of the most complete foods on the planet, providing cardiovascular, bone, nutritional, and many other benefits.
Chile remains the leading global exporter of this fruit, with the United States being the main producer where there is a higher demand in the domestic market, leading to fruit imports from Chile.
